Activating the App Embed

Before your notifications can appear on your live store, you need to activate the NotifyBubble app embed in your Shopify theme editor. This is a one time setup step.

What is an App Embed?

An app embed is a Shopify feature that lets apps add functionality to your storefront without modifying your theme's code. NotifyBubble uses an app embed to load the notification widget on your store pages.

How to Activate the App Embed

From the NotifyBubble App

The easiest way is to use the link inside the app:

1. Open NotifyBubble in your Shopify admin
2. Look for the Activate app embed banner on the Dashboard or Notifications page
3. Click the Activate button — this will open your Shopify theme editor directly to the app embed settings
4. Toggle the NotifyBubble embed to on
5. Click Save in the theme editor

From the Shopify Theme Editor

You can also activate it manually:

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes
2. Click Customize on your current theme
3. In the left sidebar, click App embeds (the puzzle piece icon at the bottom)
4. Find NotifyBubble in the list
5. Toggle it on
6. Click Save

How to Know It's Active

Once the app embed is activated:

• The Activate app embed banner will disappear from the NotifyBubble app
• The onboarding guide will show a checkmark next to the activation step
• Your enabled notifications will start appearing on your storefront

Tip: If you switch between the theme editor and the NotifyBubble app, the app will automatically recheck the embed status when you return.

Important Notes

• You only need to activate the app embed once per theme
• If you switch to a different theme, you'll need to activate the embed again on the new theme
• Deactivating the app embed will hide all notifications from your store without deleting them
• The app embed does not modify your theme's code or files

Troubleshooting

If the app embed doesn't appear in your theme editor:

• Make sure NotifyBubble is fully installed (not just added)
• Try refreshing the theme editor page
• Check that you're customizing your published theme, not a draft
