Adding a Call to Action Button
A call to action (CTA) button gives your visitors a clear next step after reading your notification. Whether you want them to visit a sale page, view a product, or check out a collection, the CTA button makes it easy.
Setting Up a Button
In the notification editor, you'll find the button settings below the content area:
- Button label — the text that appears on the button (e.g., "Shop Now", "Learn More", "Get the Deal")
- Button URL — the full web address where the button should link to
- Open link in new tab — when enabled, clicking the button opens the destination in a new browser tab instead of navigating away from the current page
The button automatically appears in your notification once you enter a label. If you remove the label, the button disappears.
Choosing Good Button Text
Your button text should be:
- Action oriented — use verbs like "Shop", "Browse", "Get", "Discover", "View"
- Specific — "Shop Summer Collection" is better than just "Click Here"
- Short — 2 to 4 words is ideal for readability
Examples
| Use Case | Good Button Text |
|---|---|
| Sale promotion | "Shop the Sale" |
| New product | "View Product" |
| Collection feature | "Browse Collection" |
| Discount code | "Claim Your Discount" |
| Email signup | "Subscribe Now" |
| Blog post | "Read More" |
When to Open in a New Tab
Enable Open link in new tab when:
- The button links to an external website (social media, a blog, etc.)
- You don't want visitors to leave the current page they're browsing
- The link goes to a PDF or downloadable file
Keep it disabled when:
- The button links to another page within your store (product page, collection, etc.)
- You want a seamless single tab experience
Customizing Button Appearance
You can customize how the button looks in the Appearance section of the editor:
- Button background color — defaults to your primary color, but you can set a custom color
- Button text color — the color of the text on the button (default is white)
- Button border radius — controls how rounded the button corners are (0 for square, higher values for rounder)
Tips
- Always test your button URL to make sure it works before going live
- Use contrasting colors for the button so it stands out from the notification content
- If your notification doesn't need a specific action, you can skip the button entirely — not every notification needs one
- Track how your buttons perform using the Analytics page to see click counts
