Notification Not Showing on My Store

If your notification isn't appearing on your live store, there are several things to check. Work through this list in order to identify and fix the issue.

1. Is the Notification Enabled?

Open NotifyBubble in your Shopify admin, go to Notifications, and check that the notification you want to display has its toggle switched on. A disabled notification is saved but won't appear on your storefront.

2. Is the App Embed Activated?

The app embed must be turned on in your Shopify theme editor for any notifications to appear. Here's how to check:

  1. Open your Shopify admin
  2. Go to Online Store > Themes
  3. Click Customize on your published theme
  4. Click the App embeds icon (puzzle piece) in the sidebar
  5. Make sure the NotifyBubble toggle is on
  6. Click Save if you made any changes

If the app embed was already on, try toggling it off and on again, then save.

3. Is the Page Targeting Correct?

Check which pages your notification is set to appear on:

  1. Open the notification in the editor
  2. Look at the Show On setting
  3. Make sure it matches the page you're testing on

For example, if the notification is set to Homepage but you're checking a product page, it won't appear there.

4. Is Another Notification Taking Priority?

Only one notification can be displayed per page. If you have multiple enabled notifications targeting the same page type, only the most recently created one will show.

Check your Notifications list for an overlap warning banner. If you see one, either:

  • Disable the newer notification to let the older one show
  • Change the page targeting so they don't overlap

5. Has the Notification Been Dismissed?

If you've already closed the notification during your current browser session, it might not reappear depending on the settings:

  • For Text Box with Stay hidden after close enabled, it won't show again until you start a new session
  • For Bubble with Auto open once enabled, the panel won't auto open again, but the bubble button should still be visible

Solution: Open a new incognito/private browser window and visit your store to simulate a fresh visitor.

6. Is Your Browser Caching an Old Version?

Sometimes your browser caches an older version of the storefront scripts. Try:

  • Hard refresh: Press Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac)
  • Clear cache: Clear your browser's cache and cookies for your store's domain
  • Incognito window: Open your store in a private/incognito window

7. Are You on the Published Theme?

The app embed is theme specific. Make sure you activated it on your published (live) theme, not a draft theme you're working on.

  • Which notification you're trying to display
  • Which page you're checking
  • Whether you see the bubble button at all (for Bubble type)
