Setting Up Your First Notification
Creating your first notification in NotifyBubble is straightforward. This guide walks you through the entire process from start to finish.
Step 1: Open the Notification Editor
- Open your Shopify admin and navigate to NotifyBubble in the sidebar
- Click on Notifications in the navigation menu
- Click the Create notification button in the top right corner
Step 2: Choose a Notification Type
You'll see two options at the top of the editor:
- Bubble — a floating icon in the corner of your store that expands into a panel when clicked
- Text Box — a modal that appears directly on the page without needing a click
Select the type that best fits your message. If you're not sure, Bubble is a great starting point because it's less intrusive while still being noticeable.
Step 3: Add Your Content
Title
Enter a clear, concise title for your notification. This appears in the header of the notification panel. For example: "Welcome!" or "Holiday Sale" or "Free Shipping Today".
Content
Use the rich text editor to write your message. You can format your text with:
- Bold and italic styling
- Headings for structure
- Bullet lists for key points
- Links to other pages
Keep your content focused and scannable. Visitors are more likely to engage with short, clear messages.
Step 4: Add a Call to Action (Optional)
If you want visitors to take a specific action, add a button:
- Enter a Button label (e.g., "Shop Now", "Learn More", "Get 20% Off")
- Enter the Button URL where clicking the button should take visitors
- Choose whether the link should open in a new tab
Step 5: Choose Where to Show It
Under Show On, select which pages should display your notification:
- All pages — appears everywhere on your store
- Homepage — only on your store's front page
- Product pages — only on individual product pages
- Collection pages — only on collection/category pages
- Standard pages — only on static informational pages
Step 6: Save Your Notification
Click the Save button in the top bar to save your notification. If you've made changes and try to navigate away, the app will ask if you want to discard your unsaved changes.
Step 7: Make Sure It's Live
For your notification to appear on your store, two things need to be true:
- The notification must be enabled (the toggle at the top of the editor should be on)
- The app embed must be activated in your theme editor (see Activating the App Embed)
